ROSSDALE INSTRUCTORS
Kevin and Kristi Groot
Vitretz
Kevin has been teaching with Rossdale since 2010, instructing a multitude of different age levels. His passion for Ukrainian culture has allowed him to travel across Canada, the United States, and Europe, as both a performer and choreographer. Kevin has an extensive theatre background that encompasses dance, theatre, arts, and stage management.
Kristi has been with Rossdale since 2014, teaching a variety of age levels. Her passion for dance provided her the opportunity to travel across Canada, the United States, and Ukraine. Kristi has conducted workshops across Manitoba, including on teaching performance quality, stage presence, choreography, and ethnography.
Kaitlin Vitt
Intermediates
Kaitlin began her Ukrainian dance career at five years old with Rossdale Ukrainian Dance School, and little did she know, that first 1-2-3 would shape her life path. She danced with Rossdale for 12 years before joining Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in 2010, about the same time she started instructing with Rossdale. With Troyanda, she has travelled across Canada and Eastern Europe, including Ukraine. From 2017 to 2018, Kaitlin lived in Ukraine studying dance, culture, and language. Her love for Ukraine and its traditions grew even stronger, and she loves sharing this passion with her dance students.
Amy Kavanagh
Pre-Seniors, Juniors
Amy began Ukrainian dance at the age of 4, dancing with the Two Hills, Innisfree, and Vegreville Sopilka Ukrainian dance schools out of Alberta for a total of 13 years. She then went on to dance with the Volya Ukrainian Dance Ensemble for one year but unfortunately due to injury decided it was best to hang up her dancing boots. After a year off, her love of Ukrainian dance could not keep her away from dusting off the boots and snatching up the opportunity to travel and perform in Ukraine with the Sopilka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble in 2005 for one last year of dance. After a long break from the world of Ukrainian dance, Amy returned as an instructor with Rossdale Ukrainian Dance School in 2017 with hopes of many more years to come!
Sasha Hedrich
Pre-Seniors, Intermediates
Sasha started teaching with Rossdale in 2021. He has been a dancer most of his life, completing his Cecchetti senior certificate through the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School's recreational division. He also danced with Troyanda Ukrainian Dance Ensemble for five years. Other pertinent knowledge might be that he’s a Capricorn, with a Gemini moon, but is often mistaken for a Libra. He also thinks he’s funny.
Sienna Kavanagh
Juniors (Assistant Instructor)
Sienna became an assistant dance instructor at Rossdale three years ago. She started dancing when she was eight years old in East Selkirk for one year and has been dancing at Rossdale for the last seven years. Sienna started assisting three years ago and hopes to one day have her own class to teach! She has learned a lot from the instructors at Rossdale over the years and is excited to see where the future takes her.
Carleen Stefaniuk
Pre-Seniors, Beginners
Carleen Stefaniuk has been teaching with Rossdale for four years. She is currently in her 21st year of Ukrainian dance, and she is happy dancing with the Romanetz Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. When she is not teaching dance, she teaches at Holy Ghost School, where she has a wonderful Grade 5 class. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends as well as getting lost in a good book or on a good adventure.
